Evita and Michael, full time dancers in NYC, bring an exuberant energy and joy to every project, whether it’s teaching classes worldwide or performing in Michael and Evitarenown theaters. Their combined resumes span the globe from Dubai to the UK, Sweden to Australia! Evita and Michael were the featured Lindy Hop couple in the 2008 Japan Broadway tour of SWING! They have performed at The Rose Theatre and The Kennedy Center with Wynton Marsalis and The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. Commercials and other television appearances have popped up frequently for Evita and Michael since they advanced to finals in Las Vegas on season 3 of FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance–the only Lindy Hop couple to do so.

Thanks to Ryan Francois & Jenny Thomas, in 2003, Evita and Michael were introduced to each other while working with Ryan’s company in Los Angeles. Since then, Evita and Michael have been members of Swing Xtreme and have performed at The Edinburgh Jazz Festival, Camp Savoy, and at the Lyric Theater in the West End of London.

Michael and Evita have won awards at several national Swing events, most notably their 1st place wins in the Cabaret Divisions at ALHC and ILHC. Michael and Evita are recognized for their ability to combine technical feats with phenomenal dancing and theatrical storytelling.

Currently, the two teach regular classes at Dance Manhattan and continue to travel the world. As teachers, Michael and Evita emphasize anatomy and efficient use of the body. Connecting movements and clearly projecting direction help create their lead and follow technique. Above all other descriptions, one will surely say that Michael and Evita are inspiring to watch and a possess a warm welcome to any student of Lindy Hop.

 

Joel Domoe & Melanie Myers (www.supermurgatroid.com) - have been dancing, competing, performing, teaching and studying swing dance constantly in a variety of capacities since 1995. They’ve literally taught thousands of people to swing dance and are excited to be part of the Cincinnati community since moving back in 2006.

Joel and MelanieJoel and Melanie appear and teach regularly at The SwinGallery, Cincinnati's weekly swing dance event (www.swingallery.com). They also teach at many national and regional swing dance events.

Melanie has performed at the White House and the Kennedy Center with the Baltimore Flycats. Joel has been honored with the status of honorary lifetime member in the Piedmont Swing Dance Society for his contributions building and establishing the swing dance community in the Triad area of North Carolina. Joel and Melanie were also founding members of the Atlanta Swing Era Dance Association (ASEDA).

Among their competitive credits are Joel’s 1999 Virginia State Open Showcase Jitterbug Championship and Melanie’s first place with the Flycats in the 1997 Virginia State Open Team Competition. Together they are the 2000 Atlanta Summer Swing Jam Strictly Lindy Champions.

Joel and Melanie have also been involved with the production of many swing dance events. Both have served as judges for numerous competition events and Joel is the tabulator for the American Lindy Hop Championships as well as the MC and Head Judge for Lindy Focus over New Year's Eve and the Northeast Lindy Hop Championships at Beantown Lindy Hop Camp. Joel was thrilled and honored recently to be the competition coordinator at Frankie95, the memorial event for the great Frankie Manning. During that event, Joel oversaw and MCed the Hellzapoppin' competition and the "World's Largest Jack & Jill," which featured over 400 competitors.

Joel has performed with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, George Gee's Jump Jive and Wailers, Indigo Swing, Roomful of Blues, and the Cab Calloway Orchestra. Joel and Melanie were married in 2002 and have two children, Nicole (7) and Jordan (5).

Michael and Jaya

 

 

Michael and Jaya Gamble live in Asheville, NC. From there they mostly do work associated with the world of swing dance, with an emphasis on Lindy Hop. They teach private lessons, and travel the country to teach workshops. They organize medium and large sized workshop events such as Southern Bell Swing Bash and Lindy Focus. They also help to own and operate iDance.net, a website for downloading digital dance lessons. Michael also DJ’s dance events and plays upright bass.

 

 

David and Jennifer

 

 

Jennifer & David have been teaching Lindy Hop together since 1998. They have a selfless love for the art of dance and great desire to expand the presence & benefits of swing dance in their community. The two bring a great diversity of body movement training to their experience as swing dance instructors. They have taught and performed throughout the southeast, but also at Beantown Lindy Hop Camp in MA, Ryan & Jenny’s Camp Savoy in England and Festiv’Alan Swing in France.

 

 

Chris and Holly

 

 

Offering a new understanding on dance mechanics, nationally recognized instructors Chris & Holly not only teach the 'how' but also the 'why' behind concepts and technique.

Chris & Holly are also the organizers of the Eastern Balboa Championships, the bad-boy black-sheep of Balboa competitions.

 

 

 

Jeramie Anderson

Jeramie Anderson currently claims Burlington, NC as home. He can be found dancing and Djing in the Piedmont/Triad and Raleigh/Durham dance scenes. Jeramie first started dancing in November of 1998, and in 2000, he joined "NeoSwing," an Olympic performance group, went to Sydney and performed as part of the National Association of Dance Educators. Shortly after that Jeramie began competing and DJing regularly. He has received numerous recognitions, including winning 2nd place in Pro/Am with Carla Heiney at ALHC in 02, 3rd in Champions Jack and Jill ALHC 03, 1st place in the Texas regional ALHC competition in 02-04, 1st place in the Gulf Coast regional championship in 05, 3rd at the Big Big Event in DC with his wife Amber, 5th in American Showcase at ALHC with Gretta Thorne in 07, 1st in Blues with Evita Arce at ALHC 07, 2nd in Advanced/All Star J&J with Sara Deckard in 09, and most recently a first place finish in Blues at the Lone Star Championships with Evita Arce in Jan 2010.

 

Abigail Browning

 

Beginning in 1998, Abigail Browning fell in love with the grace and athleticism of swing dancing, and has pursued the art and history of Lindy Hop, Balboa, Blues, Solo and Partnered Charleston, Peabody, and Collegiate Shag ever since.

As she teaches, Abigail fosters creativity and musicality for leads and follows through technique, and emphasizes body control through isolation, repetition, and balance while having fun and preserving the historical integrity of the dance.

In addition to teaching, Abigail opened Vintage Rhythm Dance Studio in Nashville, TN in 2006 where she organized events through 2008. As well as teaching and organizing, Abigail is a passionate DJ, having spun at weekly dances in Nashville, TN and Washington, DC and at national events.

Currently, Aba is based out of the Piedmont Triad area in North Carolina, as she attends UNC Greensboro for an MFA in Creative writing.
